Located on the western shores of Lake Minnetonka, Mound has solidified itself as a go-to lakeside community known for recreation, accessibility and strong community pride. Its location and amenities continue to make it a popular destination for both residents and visitors.
The city is home to nearly 9,000 residents and features more than 17 miles of shoreline within its approximately 4.9 square miles. Public beaches, parks and more than 300 public dock spaces provide opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the lake throughout the year.
The Dakota Rail Regional Trail runs directly through the city, connecting Mound to neighboring communities and offering additional opportunities for biking, walking and outdoor recreation. Development in areas such as the Harbor District, along with community-driven enhancements, has helped improve gathering spaces and strengthen the city’ s identity.
With a strong recreational focus and active community, Mound continues to serve as a central hub along the western shores of Lake Minnetonka.
