Protecting the public all year round

With a mix of residential and commercial areas ranging from lakes to islands and forest, local public safety agencies are a key to keeping the west lakes area safe.
The West Hennepin Public Safety Department serves the cities of Independence and Maple Plain. The Orono Police Department serves the citizens of Orono, Mound, Spring Park and Minnetonka Beach. Long Lake contracts with Wayzata Police for its public safety services, and the Minnetrista Public Safety Department serves Minnetrista as well as St. Bonifacius.
Fire services are provided by the Long Lake, Maple Plain and Mound fire departments.
