A variety of parks for all ages to enjoy

Visitors of all shapes, sizes and species can enjoy the natural beauty the west lakes area has to offer.
From developed parks like Nelson Lakeside Park in Long Lake, Lurton Dog Park in Orono and Surfside Park in Mound, to open, natural areas like Casco Point Park in Orono, the parks offer various ways to enjoy public space.
Beyond municipal parks, regional parks are another way to enjoy the scenic western lakes area. Three Rivers Park District operates several parks within the west lakes area.
Gale Woods Farm
The Visitor Center and Farm Store are open from 9 a. m.- 5 p. m. Monday- Saturday and noon- 5 p. m. Sunday. Visit a working farm with shoreline on Whaletail Lake. Explore the park on your own or attend a class or public event. Park patrons can also buy farm fresh food and yarn, have a picnic by the lake or host a celebration. Baker Park Reserve
The park is open daily from 5 a. m.- 10 p. m., and stretches out along Lake Independence with 2,700 acres of natural landscape and recreational opportunities. Located at 2309 Baker Park Road in Medina. Call 763-694-7860 for more information.
Lake Minnetonka Regional Park
The park is open from 6 a. m.- 10 p. m. and situated on the western shore of Lake Minnetonka. The park features a large, nautical themed play area and a chlorinated, sandy-bottom swimming pond. Located at 4610 County Road 44 in Minnetrista. Call 763-694-7754 for more information.
Noerenberg Memorial Gardens
Open from 8 a. m. to sunset, between May 1 and Oct. 15, Noerenberg Memorial Gardens is located along the shore of Crystal Bay on Lake Minnetonka, and are known widely for their dazzling display Located at 2840 North Shore Drive in Orono. Call 763-559-6700 for more information.
