With the wind blowing hard on them almost every day , the added space has made the new rig far more comfortable for the Brannen crew . Laughing , Carlyle noted that the crew doesn ’ t find themselves getting smacked against the vessel walls nearly as often as they did before .
In the old boat , the crew needed to make three trips to take their traps out on the opening day of their season , which left them with little time to rest before they had to head back out to start hauling their gear . Now with the extra space , they can carry all of their traps at once and be home by suppertime .
