THE EARLY DAYS CONSISTED OF A LOT OF HARD WORK AND DEDICATION TO GET THE BUSINESS TO WHERE IT NEEDED TO BE .

dedication to get the business to where it needed to be . Nicole gives a lot of the credit for the success of the business since then to the employees who take great pride in their work . “ I can ’ t brag them up enough ,” she says . “ It ’ s great to feel sometimes that I ’ m not needed and I can just stay out of their way !”
As parents of three young children , Nicole starts her day getting kids ready for school and then arrives for work at around 9:00 am , working until about two each afternoon . She also does work from home and often goes into work after hours to see what needs to be done for the next work day . Her job is specific to the netting for the traps , making sure everything is in place for upcoming orders .
The manager keeps production running smoothly , and Rob looks after customers and keeps up with the company inventory , making certain everyone has the supplies needed to do their jobs in all aspects of the business . Rob does a lot of the maintenance in the shop too . He is super handy when it comes to fixing things !
Rob and Nicole ’ s “ date nights ” usually consist of picking up supplies for the business and Chinese food .
Most of the sales from Island Traps are local , although shipments on occasion head to PEI and New Brunswick . As those shipments head out the door , anyone in a position to view the process from above would immediately notice the shingles on the roof in the form of two giant lobsters , a bright red in the otherwise blue roof . Creativity in the midst of an effective , successful , quality business .
