Welcome to the latest issue of West Head Boatbuilders Ltd . The Magazine . We ’ re excited to feature once again some of the valued customers , employees , friends , and suppliers we ’ ve been working with these last few months . As we do our best to keep you updated , we ’ re excited that you picked up the magazine to give it a look ! Not only will you get a good idea of what we ’ re doing but you ’ ll also learn about who our customers are and who we are as well . Our spotlight on employees has become quite a popular feature in the magazine .
In this issue , we are featuring the larger hulls we have been manufacturing for many of our customers as a result of the completion of our new , larger moulding shop . These include the extended SeaDuck hulls as well as the Grizzly Extreme hulls as we see a continuing trend among fishermen toward the larger hulls .
We have included a wonderful article about Sheldon “ Chevy ” Symonds of Cape Sable Island as he shares details of some of his experiences on the water . Even though “ Chevy ” is no longer fishing at age 95 , he certainly has some interesting stories to tell , including a swordfishing story when he didn ’ t think he would ever make it home .
Read about the completed build of the Dustin & Kieara named after owner Kevin Mailman ’ s two children . Completion of the SeaDuck hull took two months and was launched on March 29 , 2022 . As you read the article , you will discover why Kevin is so keen to recommend West Head to others . Needless to say , he is a very happy customer .
While reading the articles in this edition of West Head Boatbuilders Ltd . The Magazine , keep in mind that West Head is always looking for mechanics and skilled carpenters . As we have expanded with a new shop , our employee requirements have increased as well . If you are interested in a challenging and rewarding workplace experience , and have the skills required by our team , please send a resume to Andrew at lobster1 @ eastlink . ca .
The year 2022 has been a very busy one for us , and we continue to book lots of builds into the beginning of 2023 . On behalf of everyone at West Head Boatbuilders , I would like to thank you all for your continued support and wish our fishermen a terrific lobster season and a very happy holiday time as we approach Christmas and the New Year .
