People have been drawn to Watertown because of the natural beauty , natural resources , and vibrant local economy . The city is known for a great school system , the Luce Line Trail , the Crow River , a farmers market featuring local vendors , parks with playgrounds , good roads , safe neighborhoods and caring people . These are a just few of the things that make Watertown special .
Arts & Recreation
The city has a vibrant arts and entertainment community that promotes plays , concerts , performances , and other events at the Performing Arts Center , and there is always something happening . Those who enjoy sports can take in an amateur baseball game at Highland Park , home of the Watertown Red Devils of the Crow River Valley baseball league .
The community prides itself on small town charm and sense of community which is showcased every year during Rails to Trails ; the annual celebration the third weekend of every July , with live music , a classic car show , a 5K fun run , fireworks , and the hunt for the Golden Spike .
Safety & Education
Watertown has a low crime rate and peaceful neighborhoods , and is proud of its first responders , well-trained fire department and police force .
Watertown-Mayer Public Schools provides dynamic community education programming that draws hundreds of participants each year .
Carver County offers services through the Watertown Public Library which was remodeled in 2013 to include a technology lab . The library is a gathering place year long , offering activities for all ages .
