Chair
Niveen M. Khashab
Is associate professor of Chemical
Science at KAUST’s Physical Science
and Engineering (PSE) Division. Professor
Khashab’s research interests are in
design, synthesis, and applications of
“smart” programmable nanomaterials
with emphasis on the controlled release
and delivery aspects of the systems.
These engineered materials are
utilized for biomedical, industrial, and
environmental applications. In 2017, she
received L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women
in Science Award for Africa and the Arab
States, in recognition of her research.
Co-Chair
Khaled N. Salama
Is professor of Electrical Engineering
at KAUST’s Computer, Electrical and
Mathematical Science and Engineering
Division (CEMSE). Professor Salama’s
research interests cover a variety of
interdisciplinary aspects of electronic
circuit design and semiconductors’
fabrication. He is engaged in
developing devices, circuits, systems,
and algorithms to enable inexpensive
analytical platforms for a variety
of industrial, environmental, and
biomedical applications. Recently he
has been working on neuromorphic
circuits for brain emulation.
