JULIAN JEFFREY SECOND MASTER & HEAD OF THE SENIOR SCHOOL
Julian Jeffrey ’ s undergraduate degree was in History from the University of Durham , with a postgraduate Teacher Training qualification ( PGCE ) from the University of Exeter . He has taught in London , at one of the top independent girls ’ schools in the UK , as well as Wellington College in Berkshire . It was here that he spent almost 18 years , as Head of History and Assistant Housemaster , but the role involved far more than that . Initially combining the role with a part-time lecturing position at the University of Reading , he took on a range of academic responsibilities including A level Examinations ’ Officer and lead teacher for staff training and development . In addition to his teaching roles , Julian was a governor of an Independent Preparatory School in Surrey for six years and a freelance Educator for the Holocaust Educational Trust charity since 2009 .
JAYNE SABIO HEAD OF SIXTH FORM & MFL Jayne studied French and Spanish ( languages and literature ) at Manchester University , then completed a TEFL course and went to work in Madrid as an English teacher . She was promoted to Director of Studies after the first year . After 5 years in Madrid ( where she met husband , Manuel ), she decided to go back to the UK where she did her PGCE at Liverpool University . Jayne went on to work at The King ’ s School in Chester where she spent 15 years as a French and Spanish teacher and more recently teacher in charge of Spanish . Throughout that time , Jayne was a Sixth Form tutor and claims to have written over 200 UCAS references – an expert indeed ! She has been an AQA examiner for Spanish over the past 8 years for A level units 1 , 2 and 3 . In her spare time , Jayne plays the violin to grade 8 violin . Her two sons , Alejandro ( Year 9 ) and Marcos ( Year 7 ), join Jayne and Manuel here at Wellington College .
YYNDA THOMAS HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL Mrs Yynda Thomas is the latest in a line of senior colleagues , being the Head of Juniors , joining the St Matthew ’ s Academy in the United Kingdom . After university in Stafford and Manchester Metropolitan University , she began her career in 2001 , teaching a mixed class of Yr4 and Yr5 . From there she moved onto Bishop Lonsdale , mainly teaching Year 5 and 6 , being a lead teacher in PE and Maths , and part of the SLT . Then she moved to St James ’ Primary School where she was Deputy Head , and lead teacher in SEN , Maths , Science and PE . Latterly , she became Head Teacher of St Matthew ’ s Academy . She has been part of the school ’ s governing body for 10 years , carried out mentoring for NQT ’ s and students , lead teacher in Maths , Literacy Moderator in the Local Authority and leading many school trips .
JONATHAN LEWIS HEAD OF PASTORAL Jonathan has extensive experience in the UK supporting both academic and pastoral needs , promoting and extending the skills and aptitudes of learners preparing for public examinations , University and Oxbridge candidates . He has been a Head of Learning Support and Personalised Learning at two of the leading and highest achieving independent schools in the UK , Christ ’ s Hospital School and Tonbridge . Jonathan has expertise in applied behavioral psychology and metacognition , ensuring that all pupils can achieve their potential and personal education goals . At Wellington he aims to build on the foundations of pastoral care and social and emotional aspects of the curriculum and provide all children with the opportunity to become independent empowered learners .
