2. Are there sufferings in your life?
At tough times, we often believe that we are the difficulties, we are the disappointments and even
that we are the sufferings. These types of delusive self identifications are common to us all, and
they often lead us to become further stuck in the abyss solely created by the mind.
Buddha said, “There is suffering in the world and there are also ways to end suffering.” He further
stated that “the mind creates abyss, the heart walks across it.”
In Buddhism, the first of the Four Noble Truths is – SUFFERING. This notion of ‘Suffering’ is
merely used as the basic understanding that conflicts and struggles, as well as happiness and joy,
are all transitory experiences in life. We are not the sufferings. Sufferings are only part of the
inevitable experiences we undergo to strengthen the capacity of our opening heart.
