Jiquilisco Bay
Located approximately 110 kilometers from San Salvador, it is an area of mangroves and salty
forests that are refuge for birds such as herons, seagulls and others, about 55 kilometers in
length, forming the peninsula of “San Juan del Gozo”, receives water from San Miguel,
Samaria, El Arco, as well as other smaller islands.
In the bay of Jiquilisco the visitor can practice swimming, skiing, birdwatching, sailing,
kayaking, sailing, artisanal and sport fishing, windsurfing, among other activities.
Also in the area of the Bay is the protected area of “Chahuantique home” to the spider
monkeys (endangered) and the big blue butterfly.
In the Bay of Jiquilisco you can also visit the island the Holy Spirit where you can observe the
process of industrialization of the coconut from which coconut oil is extracted.
