The Monroe County Board of Education has a well-deserved reputation as a leader in the state of Georgia in giving its 4,000 students a thorough education.

The school system has six schools and a $ 30 million annual budget which serves children from grades pre-K to college.
Monroe County school students annually rank among the best in Middle Georgia and the state in academic achievement.
The system is committed to providing all students with the highest level of instruction, learning opportunities, individual growth and civic engagement. The seamless
partnership between the communities and schools ensures open communication and comprehensive service.

The campuses of the Monroe County School System, all within two miles of the courthouse, serve a growing student population that benefits from a wide array of academic, fine arts and athletic programs, as well as college preparatory and technical training options. The positive reputation of Monroe County’ s public schools is attracting many new residents, and the schools
continually strive to meet the needs of their students.
The former campus of Monroe Academy is used by Central Georgia Technical College and Macon State as a place to offer classes to Monroe County residents without leaving town.
