Forsyth City Park is the site of many community events. A good place to just relax, this park offers pavillions for cookouts and gatherings, playground equipment, tennis courts, golf, a walking trail, and more.

Jarrell Plantation was a cotton plantation owned by a single family for more than 140 years. It survived Gen. Sherman’ s“ March to the Sea,” typhoid fever, emancipation, reconstruction, the cotton boll weevil, the advent of steam power and a transition from farming to forestry.

Sports enthusiasts, nature lovers and history buffs have a wealth of outdoor places and activities to explore in the Monroe County area, including three state parks / state historic sites.

Monroe County Rec Department
Hundreds of youngsters from around Monroe County participate in competitive sports at the Monroe County Recreation Department. Conveniently located along I-75 at Hwy. 42, the rec department offers the following sports for these ages. For more information call( 478) 994-7795.
