HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Monroe County Hospital provides general medical and surgical care for inpatient, outpatient and emergency room patients, and participates in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The hospital is Joint Commission-accredited and twice is a statewide patient safety and quality award-winner. The hospital has $ 4.3 million in sales tax revenues that is being used to further update technology and patient comfort.
The Emergency Department is physician-staffed 24 / 7 with one of the lowest wait-times in central Georgia. Among the services and programs provided are acute care admission for adults and children, surgery( all general surgery, endoscopy, GYN surgery, vertebroplasty and CT-guided biopsy); skilled nursing care( swing beds); radiology( including CT, MRI, mammography and ultrasound); complete laboratory services and a diabetes support group. The medical staff includes doctors in family practice, internal medicine, gynecology, interventional radiology, nephrology, podiatry and general surgery.
Monroe Primary Care Monroe County Hospital opened Monroe Primary Care in 2009 to meet the health needs of the people.
