Monroe County students put their new skills to work using their hometown paper through the Reporter’ s Newspapers in Education program.

The Monroe County Board of Education has a well-deserved reputation as a leader in the state of Georgia in giving its 4,000 students a thorough education. The school system has eight campuses and a $ 32 million annual budget which serves children from grades pre-K to college.

It’ s one of just 17 school districts in the state to have every one of its schools surpass standards known under the No Child Left Behind law
as Adequate Yearly Progress for four years in a row.
The system is committed to providing all students with the highest level of instruction, learning opportunities, individual growth and civic engagement. The seamless partnership between our communities and schools ensures open communication and comprehensive service.
With our dedication to individual academic excellence, dynamic growth, a“ whole person” approach to each student and teamwork, we are devoted to offering our students a caliber of educational service that is second to none.
The eight campuses of the Monroe County School System, all within two miles of the courthouse, serve a growing student population that benefits from a wide array of academic, fine arts and athletic programs, as well as college preparatory and technical training options. The students are committed to meeting the needs of all students, including those who may require additional support, acceleration or alternative learning.
The positive reputation of Monroe County’ s public schools is attracting many new residents, and they continually strive to met the needs of our students.
In the past year the school system purchased the former campus of Monroe Academy to give schools like Central Georgia Technical College and Macon State a place to hold classes locally.
