WHEN DECIDING ON AN AREA
Where you live should reflect your lifestyle . Here are some questions to help you find the right community
Do I like what I see ? Once you have narrowed your focus to two or three areas , we will go and get a feel for what it might be like to live there . You ’ ll take notes : Are the streets bustling or quiet ? How does it feel ? Pick a pleasant day if you can , and chat with people working or playing outside . Stop at a coffee shop or grab a meal at a local spot .
What ’ s the commute like ? What are your most frequented places such as work or school ? How long will it take to get there from the communities you are considering ? If you are able , drive around during traffic times and see if you are comfortable with the commute .
What ’ s the school district like ? If you have children , investigate school options such as public , private , and charter schools . Which schools offer the programs you are interested in ? How does school choice affect your budget ?
Is it close to my favorite spots ? Make a list of activities you engage in and stores you frequent . For example , are the arts important to you ? What about entertainment venues or sports teams ? Do you enjoy spending your spare time exploring parks and beaches ? Maybe shopping is your thing ! Research the major venues of interest and determine how close you need to be to them .
