WELCOME GUIDE 2015
Money
Government Funding for UK
and EU undergraduate students
Depending on where you live, you can apply to
Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales,
the SAAS or Student Finance Northern Ireland
for loans to cover the cost of tuition fees and
your maintenance. You will also be automatically
assessed by your funding authority for a
Maintenance Grant or a Special Support
grant. Most applications are made online
(see weblinks below).
You will only make loan repayments after you
have left University and are earning over £21,000
a year. Interest on the loan is variable and linked
to inflation.
Tuition fees for 2015/16 for full-time
undergraduate students from the UK/EU are
£9,000 for each year of your course. You can
take out a tuition fee loan from your student
finance authority (see above) to pay the
tuition fee. If you take out a tuition fee loan,
the money will be paid direct to the University
on your behalf by the relevant Government
funding agency.
If you are paying some or all of your tuition fees
yourself (or your parent or guardian is paying),
payments can be made in one lump sum on
enrolment, or in two instalments in September
and January, both direct to the University.
