Bike lanes and paths are available on certain roadways and should be used where provided . For use after dark , bicycles must have a white headlight and a red rear reflector . For bike lane path maintenance concerns , contact the Public Works Streets Division .

All events held outside must apply for a special event permit . The permit is valid for two weeks and may be obtained two times per year .

All motorized vessels operating on Florida ’ s public waterways must be titled and registered . Contact the St . Lucie County Tax Collector to register .

Port St . Lucie is involved with and appoints several boards and committees . Some of these boards are a great way to get involved with your community . Citizens serve on many of these boards and offer their expertise and input about larger programs . They even make recommendations to the City Commission . A City-issued building permit is required for most general maintenance and repairs for any changes that deviate from original building plans . Permit types include security systems , garage alterations , replacement of air conditioning units , new pools or pool heaters , porches or decks , driveways and structural changes or modifications to electrical systems . The Building Department has a drive-thru window to pick up permits , drop off inspections , plan reviews and various paperwork .
