City Council
The City is led by a five-member elected Council , which sets policy and determines the long-term vision for the City . The Council appoints a City Manager to handle the daily business affairs . This system is called a Council-Manager form of local government . Each Council member has one vote , including the Mayor , so legislative authority is equally spread among all five members .

Customers are given a black garbage cart with wheels and a green recycling cart with wheels .
Bagged garbage and loose recycling are collected inside the City-issued carts , and 4 cubic yards of yard waste , which equals two standard size refrigerators or four standard ovens , are collected once a week . Two cubic yards of bulk waste , which equals one standard size refrigerator , is collected once a month on the same designated day .
Residents can drop off yard and bulk waste five days a week at the City ’ s Convenient Drop-off Center .

If you are connected to the City ’ s sewer system and there is a problem with the sewer system , an alarm will sound from the control panel on the side of your home , and a small red alarm light will light up .
Report the warning immediately by calling 772-873-6400 . A Connection Support Specialist is available 24 / 7 , 365 days a year , and will give you instructions on how to silence the alarm and will dispatch a technician to identify and address issues .
