Neighborhood Services
Port St . Lucie ’ s Code Division is one of seven in the nation to receive a 4-Star Accreditation from the American Association of Code Enforcement .
Functions - 772-871-5010 The Code Compliance Division enforces property maintenance , safety and zoning codes that affect the quality of life in Port St . Lucie . Through education and enforcement , Code Compliance Officers facilitate compliance with City laws and code , empower community self-help and develop public outreach programs to help ensure attractive neighborhoods , vibrant businesses and a peaceful and enjoyable community for everyone .

Nuisance Abatement Program The Nuisance Abatement staff works to enforce property maintenance , safety and zoning codes that affect the quality of life in Port St . Lucie . It is designed to bring the property into compliance as soon as possible .
High Grass & Weeds
Grass cannot exceed 12 inches tall on all improved property ( property with a structure built upon it ) within the City of Port St . Lucie .
Commercial Vehicles Commercial vehicles are prohibited from being parked or stored in all residential areas except while working at a job site . Examples include dump trucks , tow trucks or trucks with six wheels , step vans , chemical tank trucks and any pickup or van openly storing equipment , materials or supplies .
Vacant Lot Encroachment This is a complaint-driven ordinance on unimproved lots where vegetation is encroaching onto the developed property abutting or adjoining the property line of the unimproved property from the tenant , property owner , lessee or occupants . Certain inspections and requirements will be necessary upon complaint entry .
Dumping Dumping of trash , debris , construction materials , grass or tree clippings or other items anywhere within the City of Port St . Lucie is strictly prohibited . The Citycontracted waste hauler , FCC Environmental Services , will pick up all items except hazardous waste when the items are placed at the curb of a residence . They will not pick up items that are put out by the roadway in front of a vacant lot .

Garage Sales Residents can advertise on the City ’ s website free of charge . A garage sale shall not be run as a business or create a nuisance . Those holding garage sales are limited to one sign on their property advertising the sale . CityofPSL . com / GarageSale
House Numbers For safety purposes , all buildings ( residence and business ) must have the address posted on the front of the structure and be clearly visible from the roadway . The numbers must be at least 4 inches high with contrasting color from the background color .
Inoperative Vehicles Any vehicle that is not fully capable of being started and driven on the highway may be classified as inoperative . Examples of what may be considered as an inoperative vehicle ( s ) are : one or more flat tires , without tires , without a battery , up on blocks or without a current tag .
Open Storage Any item or material that is kept , left or placed anywhere out of doors is considered as openly stored . This includes items placed , left or stored in carports , front / side or rear yards , inside / behind a fence or inside bed of a trailer .
Outdoor Sales / Special Events Anything stored outside of the home is considered open storage and it has to be stored inside an enclosed structure .
Senate Bill 60 : On June 29 , 2021 , Gov . Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 60 into law , which no longer allows code enforcement officers to investigate anonymous complaints . All code enforcement reports must include the complainant ’ s personal information , including name and address .
