Keele University is one of the greenest universities

contributing positively to society. Did you know
that this is what the green stripe on our logo
represents?
We want all our students to learn about
sustainability during their time at Keele through
what they study, through the environment in which
they live and study, and through the activities they
get involved in.
There are many opportunities to get involved in

Living Sustainably
At Keele we want to reduce our environmental
impact and this requires your help in your
accommodation. Information and advice will be
provided in Halls about energy saving and reducing
and recycling waste, and there will be competitions
throughout the year to see which Halls can reduce
their impact the most.

If you have any queries or suggestions about
environmentally related issues to do with your
accommodation on campus then you can contact
the Environmental Team in the Estates Directorate
at estates.environment@keele.ac.uk
For those students living off campus – look out for
advice on saving energy (and money!) at the talks
and events aimed at off campus students.
Students Turned On by Switching Off
Students living in Halls this year can win prizes like
Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, NUS Extra cards and free
club or attraction tickets – just for taking part in the
Student Switch Off energy-saving and recycling
competition.
The Student Switch Off competition encourages
students to have fun in the dark by awarding the
Hall that saves the most energy and recycles the
most over the year with an end of year party.
On top of this, individuals can bag prizes all for
themselves (and their flatmates if they like sharing)
by submitting energy-saving or recycling themed
photos in the Facebook competitions that run every
few weeks. Awesome prizes are just a flick of a
switch away!
To be eligible to win the end of year party you have
to be signed up to the campaign, so make sure you
join the mailing list and ‘Like’ the Facebook page
‘Keele University Student Switch Off’ to find out
when we are dishing out the prizes.
