WELCOME GUIDE 2015
Welcome from the
Vice-Chancellor
Coming to University is an exciting and
challenging time. It is a time when we meet new
people, many of whom will become life-long
friends; it is also a time of discovery as we begin
the next stage in our education. For you, as an
international student, the prospect must seem
quite daunting as you not only leave your family
4
but you leave your home country to come to
Britain and begin your studies at Keele.
You can be assured that a warm welcome awaits
you on campus as you join over 2,000 other new
students from across the world. We currently
have students from over 120 countries, so you
can be assured that there is a real multi-cultural,
cosmopolitan feel to the campus.
Once on campus you will find that you quickly
settle in and I would encourage you to make the
most of the University orientation programme
that is designed to help you meet new people,
discover what the University and the surrounding
area has to offer, as well as ensuring you are
equipped to begin your studies with sessions to
help you get the most from our library and
computing facilities. Within your first few weeks
you will also have the opportunity to meet with
your course team and your personal tutor or
Institutional Coordinator.
As well as the academic support you will get
from your Faculty, we also have a very
experienced team dedicated to supporting our
international student community. They have
worked with thousands of students over the
years so you can be assured that whatever
question or concern you have they will be able to
help. Remember that if you have any concerns,
no matter how small or simple they may seem,
please speak with our International Student
Support Team.
