ENRICHMENT
CO-CURRICULAR
ACTIVITIES (CCA)
Wellington's Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)
programme provides an exciting opportunity
for pupils to explore new activities, cultivate
new interests and develop a variety of skills.
Within each school of the College, CCAs are
run across the range of year groups allowing
pupils to connect and make friends with children
of different ages. From year 1 onwards, CCAs
form an integral and compulsory part of the
school day.
The CCA options are selected online using
SchoolsBuddy and pupils/parents are asked to
indicate five choices for each day. We will try
our best to accommodate a pupil’s first choice
option; however, some activities are restricted
to a maximum number of pupils, therefore
some pupils will be allocated their second
choice and so on. Allocations are random, not
first come first serve. However, late or no
submissions will be given the lowest priority for
allocation. Parents/pupils will receive an email
from SchoolBuddy when the next term activities
are available for selection.
CCAs in Year 1
Pupils in year 1 participate in one CCA per
week on a Monday.
During the Academic block of the CCA
programme, pupils will be involved in one of
four aspects:
− Prep session: These will be held in the class/
form or houserooms and will be run by
tutors, which will encourage greater pastoral
contact time. This will also create a positive
working environment so that pupils can be
productive in getting their prep done. It is
expected that pupils work in silence.
− Enrichment session: These are meant as an
exciting opportunity for pupils to take their
level of understanding beyond that of the
specification and to challenge themselves.
Pupils will be invited to attend by the relevant
heads of department.
During the Physical and Creative block of the
CCA programme, pupils will select from a wide
range of activities. Please note, during Lent and
Summer terms CCAs start in the second week
and during Michaelmas term it is the third week.
A Chinese proverb very aptly states, “Teach me,
and I will forget. Show me, and I might remember.
Involve me, and I will never forget.”
