WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL Welcome to Wellington College International Shanghai. Inspired Intellectual Independent Individual Inclusive This booklet is designed to be an easy reference point for much of the information you will need as a Wellington parent to support your child or your children. I am delighted that you have chosen Wellington College International Shanghai. Our aim is to be the best international school in Shanghai and ultimately one of the world’s best. I am confident that we can and we will meet this ambition. The very best education is built on strong partnerships between school and home, so you will have a big role to play in helping us provide a world-class experience for all our pupils. We take great pride in our deep roots and strong links to one of England’s greatest schools. We are also proud of our internationalism, celebrating our pupils’ and families’ backgrounds all over the world. Shanghai is a vibrant, exciting city at the very heart of the world’s economic and social development. We respect and enjoy the rich, historic Chinese culture and all that Shanghai can offer our pupils. We are privileged to have such a wonderful College, such a new environment for learning and such great pupils. I hope you enjoy seeing your children become Wellingtonians. Wellington is growing, but we will always be small enough to provide a personal experience Eleanor Prescott tailored to the needs of each pupil and each Principal family. This booklet should answer many of the questions you may have, but I would also encourage you to contact us whenever you need guidance and support. Parents of Early Years, Pre-Prep and Lower Prep pupils will usually contact their class teacher, who will know your child very well. Upper Prep and Senior School pupils have a housemaster who will provide support and advice to pupils and families throughout their time at Wellington. Wellington College International Shanghai is a very special school. Our Wellington Identity and Values provide the starting points for an education that we know will prepare our pupils for happy, productive adulthoods. 1
