• As I don’ t drink alcohol in the mornings I am less likely to become disinhibited by it in terms of my food choice compared to evenings – especially when eating out.
• By having them early in the day rather than for supper, I have the opportunity to burn them off when my metabolism is higher than it will be when I go to bed.
• But even more importantly, by eating my forbidden foods( in moderation) I do not feel deprived as I go through my day. Come the danger time of afternoon tea, I don’ t feel deprived. Because I have had breakfast, morning tea and lunch, having a light healthy afternoon tea is not hard at all. Often I have a fruit biscuit that is low in sugar and fat. Routinely, for these reasons, I advise people to have their forbidden foods for morning tea. For people whose forbidden foods that cause them problems are savory foods like pork with crackling I suggest they have them for breakfast in the style of bacon and eggs, or, next best, for lunch, as it is not practical to have them for morning tea. There are some really rich, energy dense foods that we can’ t afford to have every day and nor do we need to. I love cream and jam doughnuts. From time to time I have them for morning tea. But I have to be careful with what else I eat that day as there are so many calories in this particular forbidden food. But remember, the most powerful aspect of what I am talking about here is that by including these things in our diet, typically for morning tea, we avoid the daily visitation by the unholy trinity and the longer term risk of triggering the What the Hell Effect. This is the key – it is the psychological benefit we are after much more than the physiological. This is how we use an understanding of the psychology of the process to make the whole weight-loss process easier.
