Moody Cow Dessert Cafe @ Transfer Road, Georgetown
Posted by kenhuntfood.com
At the junction to Transfer Road and Dicken Street in the heart of Georgetown, one
could easily realize the presence of this newly opened dessert cafe. Nestled within
an old heritage building, Moody Cow Dessert Cafe serves some of their carefully
crafted home-made desserts just as the name would imply.
Choices for desserts are aplenty in the cafe and they share one common featureGigantic in portion; sharing is highly recommended. However, the selection and
types of cakes are quite “safe”, I would personally prefer my cakes with a touch of
uniqueness, you will agree with me if you are as adventurous as me.
Moody Cow Dessert Cafe is next to where Ye Wei Vietnamese Food was previously
located, facing the bustling road of Dicken Street as well as Transfer Road.
I was intrigued by the presentation of Cheezy (Rm 16),
lashings of Mascarpone Cheese and Canned Peach
layered on top of a cake-base and finished with some
Marshmallows. The Canned Peach adds a slick of
sweetness to the buttery soft and tender Mascarpone
Cheese, and further strengthened by the cake-base
found at the bottom.
However, the dessert appeared to be too “cheesy” for
me as though the dessert lacked of a sourish tinge to
boost my appetite albeit it possessed the right balance
of sweetness. It might be too surfeit and flat to be
finished by one. I’d prefer some fresh fruits like
Strawberries to be added, for an additional sour-note to
Moody Rum (Rm 12 for 2) comes in a sphere-shape, there were two choices
available- One rolled with crushed Peanuts and the other one encased in
a White Chocolate sphere. The filling was a moist Chocolate-ball infused with
Rum. The addition of crushed Peanuts granted an interesting crunch to the
boozy Chocolate Rum Cake and no, it was not sweet, in fact, it ends with a hint
of Chocolate-bitterness. On the other hand, the White Chocolate comes with a
discernible saltiness, rather quirky and playful in terms of flavors but it did not
impress me. Overall, I thought their desserts are quite “standard” and “safe” in
terms of both flavors and taste, however, they deserve the compliments for
skillfully maneuvering the sweetness in the desserts.
