Carlton City Hotel Singapore offers modern living in
a neighbourhood steeped with history
When I found out that I was invited to stay at the brand new Carlton City Hotel Singapore, I was thrilled.
Positioned as an upscale business hotel in one of the busiest Central Business Districts in the world, I knew
that my stay was going to be a good one. The latest landmark to hit Tanjong Pagar opened its door in
August last year and since then has earned rave reviews from guests. I was eager to sample what this hotel
had to offer.
Located along the exciting fringes of Chinatown and Raffles Place, Carlton City Hotel towers over its immediate neighbours, giving guests unparalleled views of the bustling city. Boasting 29 floors and 386
guestrooms, there is no doubt that this brand new hotel is poised to be the top choice of travelers who
flock to Singapore for business and pleasure.
The moment I stepped into the lobby, I was duly impressed. With high ceilings, gleaming marble, soft
lighting and beautifully decorated foyer walls, Carlton City Hotel immediately raked up major points in my
mental “first impressions” category. Check-in was swift and I was up in my room in record time.
I am not ashamed to say that I gasped aloud in pleasure when I walked into my room. I was impressed not
only by the designer inspired furnishings, but also by the spacious room layout. I have stayed at numerous
business hotels in the past but Carlton City Hotel Singapore managed to make me feel right at home the
second the door shut behind me. Although I was not located on one of the very top floors, I was treated
to a wonderful view of the cityscape. City views by night are one of my favourite things to indulge in and
Carlton City Hotel Singapore successfully whetted my insatiable ap petite for bright lights, towering skyscrapers and wonderful Instagram photo ops.

The bathroom was extremely spacious and boasted rain shower facilities and a separate bathtub. Given
the fact that I had some writing to finish up during my stay, I was thrilled to find an ergonomic work desk
and supremely comfortable Herman Miller work chair at my disposal. Complimentary wired and wireless
broadband internet was the cherry on top of the cake. I am very sure that other business travelers will be
just as thankful for such a comfortable workstation.
Testing out the bed is something that I love to do when I check into a hotel room. The posturepedic mattress that I sank into was beyond comfortable and the fluffy pillows had just the right amount of fluff and
puff to guarantee a flawless night of much needed rest. But first, food!
