editor’s note O Unto us a King is born One of the delights of Christmas, for adults and children alike, is decorating! Every family has their own decorating traditions. Some families wait until Christmas Eve to put up and decorate their Christmas tree, while other families can’t even wait until the start of December to drag out the lights, ornaments, and boxes and boxes of those cherished Christmas decorations. For those who want to take decorating to a new level this Christmas, turn to page 84 and get inspired to handcraft your own ornaments. 19th century American author, Washington Irvin once said, Christmas is the season of kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart. Christmas still holds that special kindling of souls where home is still where the heart is. From home to home, and from one place to another, the warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to one another. The significance of Christmas is known all over the world. Though it is true that Christmas is celebrated as the day of the birth of Christ into this world, it symbolises a very deeply significant truth of the spiritual life. Jesus Christ was born into a world that was riddled with problems: religious, social, political and otherwise. In the midst of these conditions, Christ was born to humble beginnings and gave a new and spiritual turn to the lives of men. Today, Christian or not, we can learn from His humble beginnings; that we too can rise above the challenges and limitations that confront us in our lives, if we truly accept and, in turn generate peace and love. Let us, therefore, make this Christmas not only a time to celebrate with our families and friends, but also a time to share with the less fortunate individuals in our communities. So deck the halls with boughs of holly, because it’s the season to be jolly. Enjoy the merriment, and don’t devour too many mince pies! Wishing all our lovely readers, partners, clients and friends, a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year! avril ullivan S Yours Truly Editor
