CELEBRATIONS
Soak in the yuletide spirit this season and tantalise your taste buds as
a wide selection of cuisines take to
the stage beyond the doors of your
apartment. Distinguishing itself
amongst the rest, this restaurant has
a personalised menu that will ensure
that each one of its valued guests will
have a gastronomical adventure this
Christmas amidst the serenity of the
flora that is embedded on the island
of Sentosa.
Stepping beyond the polished glass doors of
Shutters, one will be greeted by chefs overlooking the bar counter – thus creating a personal
touch to its ambience while dining. I was led
through the wooden-paneled ceilings and floor
which I thought evoked a sense of warmth and
comfort whilst a tinge of sophistication radiates
throughout the sitting area. To join in the festive
cheer, Shutters has specially conceived a menu
of Christmas favourites by fusing Italian and
French Cuisines, thus promising you a delectable treat like none the other.

To start off, the Apple and Celeriac with Caramel
Walnut in Yuzu Dressing presented a savoury
blend of palatableness and a tad tart from the
glaze of Yuzu sauce. Not only do the hemispherical scoops of apples accentuate the presentation of the dish, it also emanates a delectable
crunch of sweetness that diffuses instantly
upon the bite. Hands down to the chefs for topping the dish off with caramelised walnuts that
enhances the sugariness of the dish. Pleasant to
the eye, this appetiser will whet your appetite as
it did to mine.
Following that, a strikingly-bright looking Salmon Rillette shaped like a Petri Dish is served with
a touch of cod roe at the top. A meld of flavours
enticing to the taste, I found the dish ambrosial
and the cod roe provided a delightful munch.
Moving on, patrons get to choose one from a
selection of four main courses. Meticulously
rolled and loaded with the chef’s rendition of
stuffing, the Multi Stuffed Turkey Roulade was
moist and tender to the touch and was flavourful to taste. Served with Cranberry Coulis,
Roasted Potato, Porcini Mushroom and a drizzle
of Gibret Sauce, this dish satiated my craving for
a meaty indulgence.
The highlight of the day in my opinion would
be the Braised Wagyu Beef Cheek. Braised over
a period of 8 hours, this particular dish crumbles
upon the touch of the fork. The perfectly seasoned cut literally melted in my mouth, rendering it an absolutely piquant piece of mastery
from the chef. Complemented with Truffle Mash
Potato and Oven Roasted Root Vegetables, it
was a zesty treat to my belly and undoubtedly
to all the avid beef lovers out there.
The Lobster Spaghetti ensued thereafter which
flaunts a flambé Pepper Vodka Lobster impregnated with Shellfish Essence rounded off with
a coil of dainty spaghetti. Thoroughly seasoned,
it is a toothsome try for the ardent seafood fanatic like me. The crimson red lobster packed
a punch of succulence which diffused in my
mouth hence rendering it a sumptuous choice
for those with a moderate palate.
To round off the day, we were served with a
modest portion of Chocolate Crunchy Mousse.
It is a choice of dessert that will definitely appease those with a fondness for saccharine
delights. The scatter of diminutive chocolate
balls at the top was an ingenious move as it
yielded a very gratifying crunch akin to eating
rice krispies. To conclude the meal, a generous
warmed jar of Ivory Bread and Butter Pudding
was served with some cream by the side. One
of the best concoctions I have ever tasted, the
pudding is lavished with slabs of croissants encapsulated in the jar giving it a moist lukewarm
bite with every scoop.
Shutter’s devotion to creating an exclusive feast
this Christmas is already palpable just by looking at the line-up they have on the menu. If you
are thinking of retreating into the serenity away
from the bustling business district this Christmas, be rest assured that Shutters will fail to disappoint. The alluring fusion of colonial architecture and contemporary designs will guarantee a
restful night out this Christmas Eve.
