Mel is originally from Richmond, VA and spent time in the Army as a mechanic. He now runs a one-man woodworking shop, Morris Custom Woodworking out of West Bend, Wisconsin and most of his work is done by hand. Like a lot of us he got tired of buying crap furniture and knew that he could build his own.
“I have always been passionate about making things that are better than what can be found in a store. I decided that I did not want to settle for what the big-box furniture stores had to offer. This is the reason I decided to start making furniture. I am able to use my training as a machinist in order to make furniture with exacting tolerances and the precision I desired.”
