Bringing over 15 million viewers a week The Walking Dead is one of the most watched and talked about series. Taking over social networks and media it becomes a trending topic every Sunday night. The Walking Dead is an American horror thriller and drama series, where an epidemic has surfaced and has washed up many of the people in the world, many are infected and turned into zombies. The ones who aren't infected are trying to find a new way to adapt to what has happened and are on survival mode until they can finally find a place to call their home. The characters face new challenges every day and new enemies. The motto to the series is "Fear the living, kill the dead", the zombies are a threat but not as much as an enemy who may want your resources and will even kill you for it. The Walking Dead comic books are a continuing and ongoing series with black and white pictures. The author of the book Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore who was then replaced by Charlie Adlard have published over 21 volumes, 11 hard cover books, 4 Omnibus, 4 novels and 2 Compendiums. The television serious premiered on Halloween, October 2010 and is continuing to present day.

Based off the comic book series the TV show also goes by the name of “The Walking Dead”. It also follows the main character Rick Grimes, his family and other survivors in a zombie apocalypse. The first season began with Sherriff’s Deputy Rick Grimes who awakens from a coma in an abandoned hospital to find a post-apocalyptic world ruled over by infectious zombies also referred to as “walkers”. Grimes discover that everyone even his family is missing and goes out to look for them. As he begins his journey he runs into many survivors were they finally make a plan to get to their camp a few miles away from the city where coincidently his family is at and are finally reunited. After their camp was overrun by walkers, killing many, Rick takes charge and decides to go to CDC were he believes is the safest place to go. After a long journey to CDC there is only one staff who has survived, Dr.Edwin Jenner. Jenner reveals that this epidemic can’t be cured and believes that this isn’t a way to live. Later on, Dr. Edwin Jenner and a few of the group members commit suicide as for the rest of the group they have to continue running before the walkers catch up with them. Without further or due Rick leads the group to Hershel’s farm and ranch where they would rest until they are ready to keep moving.

As the second and third season continues, the group is faced with many challenges after they were overrun by walkers back at the ranch. After witnessing his best friend turning into a zombie after his death, Rick realizes that they are already infected. The group finally finds a place to settle down in a nearby prison, and stay there during the mean time. Many deaths are involved, including Rick’s wife who died after giving birth to her daughter, Judith. Rick begins to start losing his sanity and the group becomes worried of losing their leader. ‘The Governor” the villain of the show tries to take away the prison by attacking the group which ultimately failed. He felt as if the prison couldn’t be his no one can have it.

As for the fourth season Rick and the group turn the prison into their home and believe they can live a “normal” life. Although it isn’t much normal when a walker is trying to eat your face every day and are roaming outside your window. Rick turns the field into a mini farm where crops are being grown and animals are being kept. As a joke they call Rick, “Farmer Rick” since he isn’t a sheriff anymore. There hasn’t been an incident in months until a flu breaks out in the prison and people have to be separated in cells since the sickness leads to death, and deaths leads people turning into zombies. Unfortunately, “The Governor” attacks the prison again destroying it completely using bombs and fire arms. Judith, who is only a few months old, is missing and Rick and Carl lose it. The group has been completely separated and is starting to lose hope. This season goes into depth of what the characters used to do before the outbreak, relationships are being built and new characters are also being introduced. There also might be an idea why this epidemic began and there might be a cure!

The Walking Dead is filled with a lot of character development. In my opinion, this series has the most character growth than other series watched before. This series is filled with many plots twists, tears, blood, guts and gore. It will leave you hanging off your seats in every episode you watch.
