PERSIAN CEREMONY
The traditional Persian wedding ceremony took place in the hotel’s Vancouver
Island Room with decor by Neda Emami of éclat decor inc. A white, carpeted
aisle was lined with crystal candelabras that were placed on lucite boxes and
adorned with white blooms including hundreds of rare and luxurious Cattleya
orchids. The front of the room was draped in white fabric and two custom gilded
wall panels framed the couple’s sofreh. The sofreh, a lavish spread of symbolic
items that are presented at Persian wedding ceremonies, was designed by the
bride and reflected her love of angels.
“I’ve always believed that angels bring happiness and luck to our lives, so we
incorporated angel-inspired items on our sofreh and across the wedding decor,”
says Haleh who spent four months designing the elaborate display and has since
started a sofreh design and wedding accessories company called detailshaleh.
The base of the sofreh featured hand-sewn lace while the centre was covered
with cascading orchids and dripping greenery.
