Samira and Joseph’s gorgeous sofreh, a lavish
spread of symbolic items that are presented at
Persian wedding ceremonies, was designed by
Elle Daftarian of petite & sweet in collaboration
with Khonche Asal and the bride’s mother.
COMBINATION
OF TRADITIONS
The ceremony took place in the Vinci Room at the
four seasons hotel toronto and combined
Persian and Western wedding traditions.
The couple recited vows under a lush canopy of
greenery designed by john costa design, placed at
the front of the sofreh. “Although we didn’t write our
own vows, because I knew I would just cry endlessly
if I did, we crafted a ceremony that we loved with
help from our officiant Peter Norman,” shares Samira.
The ceremony included a poem from the bride’s aunt
who flew from Iran to attend the event and was visiting
Canada for the first time.
