This is an incredibly exciting issue for my staff and I. Not only does this mark our fifth anniversary of publishing WedLuxe in Toronto and Eastern Canada, but it’s our biggest issue yet with over 200 pages of absolutely stunning content, ideas, photography and inspiration; all produced by the best of the wedding industry. Over the past five years it’s been quite a ride, and it still remains my absolute highest honour to continue to produce WedLuxe with the involvement of an industry that I so greatly admire and respect. As you may have noticed, every issue we have produced to date has an overriding cohesive theme to inspire the features within. This issue’s theme—Inspired By Cinema— originated one day last summer when my staff and I were in a planning meeting for The WedLuxe Wedding Show (which will be hosted by The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto on Sunday, January 6, 2013). We’re an all-female staff so as you can imagine, our meetings can easily go off-task when we ‘gush’ about things we collectively love. On this particular day we were all swooning over a newly released video trailer for The Great Gatbsy, a movie we can’t wait to see when it’s finally released. Based on the trailer, the movie promises to deliver a feast of Art Deco eye candy that undoubtedly will influence a whole generation of movie-goers. That staff meeting got me thinking about how influential movies are and how they have created trends and design spin-offs in all areas of life, including weddings. (Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme, anyone)? Our theme for this issue was an obvious choice. But allow me to circle back to Gatsby, and our show! Did I mention how over-the-moonexcited we are about our upcoming wedding show?
