Honeymoon guide: St Moritz

You’ve planned the white wedding, now it’s time to plan a white honeymoon.Snow junkies, pack up your skis and head to the Alps...

Where to stay

Nestled in the Engadin valley, just 5km from the centre of St. Moritz, Nira Alpina is a beautiful blend of traditional Swiss architecture and modern design which ensures every room has a panoramic view of the mountains across the frozen lake.

Situated at the base of the Corvatsch mountain, one of its unique perks is its ski-in, ski-out access, with an overhead bridge conveniently connecting the hotel directly to the lifts.

The restaurants at Nira Alpina will please even the fussiest of eaters and culinary critics alike. Stars restaurant looks out over a spectacular snowy vista – the perfect view to accompany your morning coffee. The Pichalain hut is a delight, and everything you could want from your après ski.

Dimly lit and built with timber taken from silver fir trees, it’s packed full of rustic charm. The lodge is an ideal place to rest achy legs, wrap your hands around a hot mug of mulled wine and share a cheese fondue for two. Cosy.

What to do

1) Corvatsch offers some of the most challenging runs in the whole of St. Moritz. Also turn up the romance with a late-night ski session, where the piste is illuminated so you can ski under the stars.

2) There are plenty of other sports for those wanting to try something new. Cross-country skiing is popular across the frozen lakes and there are many beautiful paths to trek together.

3) The picturesque town of St. Moritz is one of the places for the elite to see and be seen. In addition to the high-end boutiques, the vast frozen lake plays host to different events, from horse racing to polo matches.

4) Escape the slopes and snuggle up for a horse-drawn carriage ride through Fextal valley. Strictly no cars, the stunning snowscape is perfect for a ride beneath warm, fleecy furs.
