For out-of-town couples, The Kemble Berkshires in Lenox, another Gilded Age mansion, has also become a popular place for them and their families to stay. Carolynn Burns and Alex Jezerski, who split their time between Hoboken, New Jersey, and Pomfret, Connecticut, had their rehearsal at The Kemble and got married at Hancock Shaker Village in July. Since most of their family and friends live in the Tri-State Area, Hancock Shaker Village was a good central east location. The couple had two photographers at their wedding— but in retrospect, Burns wishes they had a videographer there, too.“ It all goes by so fast, and we would have liked to relive it and see things we may have missed,” she says.
In terms of photography, Vassos says people still want photos of the couple and wedding parties getting ready, along with the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception— but one new trend she’ s seeing more of this year is having a live painter at the wedding throughout the day, capturing the magic of the day in another art form.
