reating a Love Story
through Dance
When it comes to weddings,
there should always be a story. After all,
it is one of the most intriguing part of
a relationship – how two strangers was
brought together to be one in marriage.
But sometimes, words are really not
enough to express those emotions.
You need much more, like a dance to
express it.
“I create original dances and develop
interpretations of the songs; highlighting the
extent of [the couple’s] love and feelings to the
dance,” says Jeff when asked how he creates the
choreography. His wide knowledge of a variety
of dances from classic waltz to contemporary –
modern also comes in handy – since he always
makes it a point to get to know his clients and their
dance abilities.
Jeff knows that each and everyone is unique and
has a set of capabilities – but the “key is listening
to the needs of the client.” Does the couple want
to surprise people with their long-kept talents?
Do they want to show off their artistic side? Or do
they simply want a laidback slow dance that’s full
of passion? Jeff will create a routine suited for the
couple – and hallways ensure that his clients will
have a good time learning it as well.
But of course, there are certain challenges like
having a couple who doesn’t really know the first
thing in dancing. “I make sure I teach them step by
step until they get it,” Jeff shares. It requires effort,
time and patience to teach choreography, but Jeff
handles it with ease.
Aside from the dance routine, Jeff also makes
sure that he teaches the couple to be confident
and comfortable with dancing. “Stage presence
is the most important in a wedding dance, and all
genres of dances. The feelings and emotions of the
couples are important too. I provide guidance and
creativity to make them the best they can be.”
After all, the couple is the star of their wedding day!
Jeff makes sure that the couple will “rock the dance
floor” and truly shine brightest with their newfound
talents.
“It takes two to tango,”
as the saying goes.
Marriage is truly a lot like doing
the tango – you need chemistry, you
need rhythm and you need to be in
sync with one another to pull off a
dance routine. No wonder, one of
the highlights of a wedding is the
couple’s first dance. But then, not
everyone is limber and graceful to
swing their hips away. Not unless,
you give it a little effort and grab
an expert to do the trick – that’s
where Jeff Dy comes in.
