Contributors Q&A Q&A with Nino Ventura Filmmaker, director, editor and photographer, he started with a dream of making indie films about love, but then realized weddings will give him a chance to use real love as a subject in his films. He has won several video competitions in and out of the country, including ITALENTSTAR ASIA Asia’s First and Biggest Online Talent Competition. “In a wedding, a photographer and a videographer will technically cover the same things, how can they be different?” It’s true, both of them are there to capture the moments in the wedding day. But, a video is more on the reality side compared to a photograph. The difference is that the videographer is further able to capture those small things that are often missed by a single frame. Like an adorable flower girl yawning without reservation, or the falling of a stray tear from the groom’s eyes. Those are the best moments, candid and funny moments that will be shown in a video. When the couple looks back on their special day they’ll remember vividly what exactly transpired. Video coverage is a huge investment in a wedding because if you watch the video, you will feel like you are there reliving the day. “Do I base on just the portfolio or do I go with my gut feel?” When choosing a videographer, choose the one that puts his passion in his work. If there is no passion on the work, the video is just a simple presentation of what happened. But with passion comes creativity. Also, be sure that the videographer has a unique style to make your wedding more elegant and beautiful. “My fiancé and I are working on a budget, but we really want a pro to cover our wedding, any suggestions?” Even if the rates of the videographer you prefer are a bit high, I am sure the prices are always negotiable and can be brought down closer to your budget. All you have to do is to talk to them. Inquire about discounts. Big or small. “I want our wedding to look as good in film as it is in person. When would it be better, in the morning and early afternoon or will an evening celebration look more classy behind the lens?” Some couples prefer one from the other. It really depends on the lighting in the area, and the composition of the shot. Our team is very flexible in this area, we work with the couples’ preferences, we adjust our camera settings and lighting accordingly to make it look professional and cinematic while accommodating their preferences. So, both occasions can equally look great with a competent videographer. “What are the most important moments that I should remind my videographer about?” For us, every moment in the wedding is important, from the small elements such as the wedding invitation, the busy preparation, all the way until the very end of the reception. We put in mind that everything must be documented. This is a once in a lifetime event that the couple will treasure forever. It is our passion to give them something to relish all over again. How did your interest in Wedding Videography began? “It started with a dream of making an indie film about a love story. But then I realized that making wedding films give me the same delight and the best thing about it is the stories of love are real.” What are your qualifications? “I was an Ambassador and Scholar at the Asia Pacific College; I took up a degree in Multimedia Arts Major in Video Production. I have had a habit of joining video contests in and out of the country. I was blessed enough to win video competitions such as ITALENTSTAR ASIA (Asia’s 1st & Biggest Online Talent Competition).” What is Nino Ventura Films?
