The Entrepreneur Slash Bride
“I didn’t plan it to be a business,” began bride-to-be Cheryl
Malayon. Last year, she was canvassing for flowers for her
own wedding but got discouraged with the prices. “In one
bridal forum, I saw these non-floral flowers and was inspired to
make my own,” she says. Fortunately, she has a natural gift for
handicrafts and ended up intriguing others with her creations.
Soon, she and her fiancé started Cheri Handicrafts, an online
business for their bouquet and boutonniere alternatives.
A Bouquet of Non-Fresh Flowers
Non-fresh flower, or non-floral, pertain to flowers made of an
assortment of things, from fabric to crystals and other knick
knacks, with no fresh flowers in sight. Cheryl turns all these
into bouquets worthy of walking down the aisle with. “Because
I am a bride today, I don’t want my clients to experience what
I also don’t want to. I am very careful with them. If at the last
minute they realize they don’t like something I will still deal
with it,” she assures.
Why go for Non-Fresh Flowers?
Lasts a long, long time. This is probably the number 1 reason
why fresh flowers can be risky. Proper care should be given to
make sure it remains abloom for your ceremony and reception,
while non-floral flowers would just need to be put where it can’t
be bothered.
Doubles as a token. Because it lasts, you can bring it home
and cherish as a souvenir. She even suggests, “Do the same
for your bridesmaids and groomsmen and have it as a special
souvenir.”
Very Affordable Package. Cheryl says, her creations are more
affordable than their counterparts. [
