Although mass weddings also take place in other countries, mass weddings in the Philippines is quite more special and
far more prevalent. Organized by the government or by NGOs, kasalang bayan aims to help couples, who are unable to get
married for financial reasons, formalize their union. Often enough, this special collective wedding occurs on Valentine’s
Day or alongside other events in a community, like during fiestas, anniversary celebrations and the like, making the day
even more special.
