Northern and Central Weddings

The Ilocos Region includes Ilocos Norte, Ilocos
Sur, La Union and Pangasinan. Couples looking
for an old world atmosphere for inspiration
should visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites like
the Baroque Church of Paoay, Ilocos Norte and
the Heritage City of Vigan, and Santa Maria
Church, Ilocos Sur. Then again, water-lovers
have Pangasinan’s Hundred Islands National
Park and the waves of La Union, surfing capital of
Northern Luzon. Other interesting places include
Southeast Asia’s first power-generating wind farm
in Bangui, Marcos Museum and Mausoleum both
in Ilocos Norte, Pagburnayan in Ilocos Sur show

baskets, antique-finish furniture, ceramics, dried
fish, bangus, rice, bagnet, chichacorn, empanada,
rice wine and basi, a native Ilocano wine you can
use at the toast!
Summer Capital, Baguio City is best known for
its climate. Cool, foggy mornings and evenings
have made it a romantic place for honeymooners.
The Panagbenga Festival every February brings
hordes of tourists wanting to see the floats made
of flowers, street dancing and other activities.
That, December, Mahal na Araw and, of course,
summer, bring the most number of visitors so book
early if you want your wedding during those peak
seasons. Otherwise, any time is a good time to
go to Baguio. Popular Baguio products include
the ube jam, strawberry products, and silver. In
2007, to further boost tourism and especially for
a kasalang bayan of 56 couples, the Hotel and
Restaurant Association created their largest
wedding cake at 16 feet using a thousand kilos of
flour and hundreds of kilos of fresh fruits.
