Special Feature It Takes a Real Man to do a Wedding Text by Mariko Cantes When it comes to wedding coordination, it’s not very often that you will meet a happily-married guy to talk to you about the cakes, the invitations, the reception and even the whole emotions of the big day. But for Rodelio Elemento, owner of Estilo de Concepto wedding is a real man’s job! Advantage of being the Guy Coordinator Most of the time, wedding preparations is a series of bridecoordinator teamwork and occasional groom participation. Rodelio acknowledges the fact that most of the time, the groom doesn’t really go into the details of the whole planning – their only concern is to get wed and keep their wife-to-be happy. But being a guy in the event planning community makes the whole preparation be shed a new light. While the bride takes lead in all major decisions, at times when the groom has some ideas, it’s easier for them to express themselves to another guy in the room. “The advantage of that is I grasp and get what the bride wants out of the wedding, on the other hand, I can also justify the side of the groom,”Rodelio shares. However, the surprise sometimes pose as a challenge since not many clients are accustomed to working with a guy coordinator – most especially brides who are used to having women coordinators. Yet, for the many satisfied clients of Estilo de Concepto, getting the guy coordinator may be the best decision they ever made. Of course, there are certain parts of a wedding that must be kept sacred and traditional but all other else can be tweaked and enhanced. Used to the usual production process, he treats every event as a real-life movie with bits and pieces that should fit perfectly together. Not only does he have the eye in the art of movie making, he also knows the right angles, the right positions and the right treatment of every segment of the big day. In truth, the very reason he got involved into coordination is his own experiences as an event photographer and videographer of his own Estilo de Litrato since 2005. He remembers certain events when some of the weddings he attended did not have the right mood for the event. Aside from that, he also noticed the lack of story and creativity in the program, leaving the client half-heartedly satisfied with their wedding. This is something he did not wish for anyone else, being a married man himself who experienced the joy of his wedding day. So, along with his wife who took up a formal events management classes and his experiences and connections, they put up Estilo de Concepto in 2010.
