TREND
“ Couples just want to experience it again, properly. Not just the key moments, but everything around them, the atmosphere, the energy, how it all actually felt.”
- Lizzie, Reels of Content
An extra perspective
Some couples may choose to forego a traditional photographer or videographer in place of a content creator, while others might opt for all three to capture different aspects of their day. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, it really depends on what you’ re looking to have as a takeaway from your day.
“ They all have their place, but content feels a bit more current” says Lizzie.“ Photography and videography are more classic, they’ re beautifully done and a bit more structured. Content is softer around the edges and more instinctive. It captures things as they’ re happening without overthinking it. I always find my content naturally reflects the photographer’ s style as well, so everything blends together really seamlessly. It’ s not trying to replace anything, it just adds that extra perspective.”
How is the content captured?
Many content creators shoot weddings using just a mobile phone – which may not feel as‘ professional’ as a more traditional media form, but the results speak for themselves.
“ Shooting on iPhone feels really unobtrusive, which I think makes a difference on the day. You can move around without making it feel like a big production” explains Lizzie.
“ I keep it intentionally quite minimal. I always have a few iPhones on me as well as chargers, and I never use my personal phone for weddings. I like keeping everything separate and reliable.”
What couples are asking for
Much like photography and videography, content capture also sees particular trends that couples lean into for their wedding day. And, as the demand for content has increased, the expectation has shifted.
“ The content is definitely becoming more refined,” says Lizzie.“ People are a bit more selective now and they’ re looking for something that feels aligned with their style rather than just following trends. I think it will lean more editorial over time, but still with that relaxed, candid feel. Less about doing what everyone else is doing and more about creating something that actually reflects the couple.”
