ACTIVITIES ON SCIENCE AND SCIENTISTS - 12 to 13 Year-Old Students: They will have to make a graphic strip, of at least 4 vignettes, depicting the moment when a scientist of their choice made a relevant discovery in the laboratory. Each vignette will have a short narrative text about the sequence of events and one or more bubbles with the characters’ words. The drawing will be made by hand and it will be coloured too. They can also use the collage technique. Format A4 1 or 2 Sessions - 13 to 14 Year-Old Students: They will have to write a newspaper article of about 60 words reporting a relevant scientific piece of news. The article has to answer the questions. - Who? - Where? - When? - What? - Why? It has to include a picture and it can be a printed word document or it can be written by hand. Format A4. Before writing, the students are shown a sample of a newspaper article and are given some instructions about how to write the news. 1 Session. - 14 to 15 Year-Old Students: They have to write a flash fiction story of about 50 words. The story has to take place in a lab. It can be a printed word document A4 format or it can be written by hand. Before writing, the students are given some examples of Flash Writing. 1 Session. - 16 to 18 Year-Old students: They have to write a haiku, a short poem of 17 syllables, normally distributed in three lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables each.
