My dearly departed ‘ Jewel ’ ( 2001-2016 ) A rescue from 10 months of age . Loved and was loved by everyone . The full-on BC ‘ character ’.
One particular event has me and one particular postman laughing immediately if ever we even see each other and this , some ten years after the event . We live in a Close . It was his usual practice to park his van just outside our driveway and sort the letters for the ten houses before delivering .
One sunny day , I was gardening in the front and Jewel was apparently asleep on the lawn . The postie walks into our short driveway with our letters , passing just two yards from Jewel .
Instantly she was awake , and up and running . . . through the side gate and another gate into the back garden , through the back door , through three rooms and into the hall to arrive just in time to bark at the letters as they fell through the letterbox .
Because it is important to deal with the offending letters whilst leaving the nice postman to go about his business .
