Winning Big:
Jaguars United
When Augusta University’s Athletic Program
created the Jaguars United challenge for the
colleges to show their school spirit, Pamplin
College went all in. We already knew we had
the most talented and spirited students, faculty,
and staff so we welcomed the opportunity to
demonstrate that to the University at large and
to win a big trophy in the process!
We won the banner competition handily
because we enlisted the help of our incredibly
creative art students. We chose our former
cheerleader staff member, Megan Drake, to do
the limbo and of course, we won that, too. Our
new department of Social Sciences went above
and beyond with the office decorating.
The real fun and competition came the
night of the basketball games against Francis
Marion. Our own sidekick for Augustus and
our dedicated part-time instructor, Kenneth
Shugars, transformed into the Jag-Man: part
jaguar, part Batman, and full energy machine.
Then there was an intense musical chairs match
at halftime where our Student Ambassador,
Grace Welsh, left it all on the court and emerged
victorious. Finally, there was the attendance
award. Of course, our faculty, staff, and students
came out in droves to support both our Jaguar
teams.
Ultimately, we won first place in four of the
six challenges and therefore won the coveted
Jaguars United trophy. The trophy will rotate
to the college that wins the competition each
year, and we are already laying plans to keep the
trophy in Pamplin!

HOW TO DONATE
Support Pamplin College
We hope you have been inspired
by something you have read in
#WeArePamplin. If you would like
to support our students directly,
there are more than 40 scholarship
funds in Pamplin College to which
you could contribute. If you would
like to support our faculty, there
is a “discretionary fund” set up for
each department. If you would
like to support one of our specific
programs (Opera, Jazz, the Center
for Georgia History, the Harry
Jacobs Society, and others), they all
have foundation accounts as well.
You can go to the website to look
up these various funds and make
a gift: www.augusta.edu/giving/

Still not sure where to contribute?
Maybe donate to the College as a
whole: www.augusta.edu/giving/
