ABM: WSO training lasts around a year, and you will initially fly the Phenom at RAF Cranwell, after which you will be awarded your Mission Aircrew flying badge. You will then train on the Weapons Foundation Course at RAF Shawbury to become an aircraft controller before you go to your Operational Conversion Unit( OCU), where you will train on the E-7 Wedgetail that you will fly in a front-line role.

SPECIALIST TRAINING
Your specialist training begins with Military Aviation Ground School( MAGS), followed by Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance( ISR) Foundation Training at RAF Cranwell, using synthetic trg devices. Trainee WSOs will then be streamed to Air Battle Manager( ABM); Navigator( NAV); or Sensor Operator( SO).

you will fly the King Air“ Avenger” at RNAS Culdrose. You will then be awarded your flying badge and go to an OCU to train on the aircraft that you will fly operationally( such as the P-8A, Rivet Joint or E-7).
SO: Your training lasts around a year and you will initially fly the Avenger at
RNAS Culdrose before teaming up with a WSO for ISR Systems training for Remotely Piloted Air Systems( RPAS). You will then go to RAF Waddington to learn to fly the Protector aircraft where you will get your flying badge during the OCU.
