Shaping the future
Emerging Millennial Leaders Explore the Future of Policymaking
James Madison didn’t wait for an invitation to
lead. He was drawn to drafting public policy—
and crafting the coalitions necessary to bring
policy to life—because he was inspired to improve
society and move our nation forward.
The Robert H. Smith Center for the Constitution
recently launched the Montpelier Summits,
a series of events designed to rekindle and
14
reinvigorate nonpartisan, principled discussion
and debate about the process of formulating and
enacting policy.
Created in partnership with The William and
Flora Hewlett Foundation, the goal is to engage
emerging leaders on the grounds of Montpelier,
creating lasting bonds that can be called on for
years to come.
