Next week, I will attend to the presentation of the 2014 edition of Rapporto Italiani nel Mondo from Fondazione Migrantes, here in Rome. This report is the ultimate paper that every year describes the Italian emigration abroad, all over the world. You already know that Italians are emigrating again, leaving a country they love but in deep trouble: just like once upon a time the pioneers of Italian emigration did, at the end of XIX century. I am attending as President of We the Italians but most of all as representative in Italy of the Italian American Museum: this year in the report there is a paper signed by the Founder and President of the museum, Dr. Joseph V. Scelsa, and me, about this wonderful place that is the home of all the Italians who arrived to Ellis Island and then ended in the original Little Italy in Manhattan, trying to get a new and better life … real pioneers. We’re working to have the report presented at the museum, too, sooner or later.
Last but not least, We the Italians will be gladly helpful to the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs with the purpose of informing all the Italians in the US about the next COMITES elections. We will be instrumental to help communicating the process: the effort made by the Italian institutions deserve to be explained and helped as much as we can, and we are proud to be useful for what we can.
That’s all for now. So stay tuned, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride. The future’s so bright, we gotta wear shades!
