We stopped to have a quick chat with the energetic and very entertaining Supa Soca Bass about the event he performs at in Denmark, Copenhagen. This annual event has been making major moves in Europe in terms of attendance. Check out this quick interview and find out more about Distortion. You’ll see us there in 2017 representing.
Supa Soca Base (Supa T):
Although I’m from New York, my Mother and Grandfather roots go directly back to T&T and St. Maarten. Its safe to say that Soca has always been in my life.
I came to Denmark in 2011 to spread some Soca music, because there
simply were ZERO DJs playing it; 5 years on it is a musical genre that brings
hundreds out to events in Denmark.
Distortion is an electronic street party event In Copenhagen, Denmark,
that brings tens of thousands of people to party on the streets.
In 2014 Distortion allowed me to team up With Københavns Karneval to
create a Carnival Fete Scene, at Blågards Plads. For the first
time in its 18 Year History a new genre other than EDM, Hip Hop and
Reggae joined the scene. (Sort Distortion)
Every year it gets bigger with over 1200 people attending this years event in
June.
The event is mostly Soca Music with an ode to the original style of Brazilian
Karneval. We’re planning to make Københavns Karneval the biggest
Distortion scene of the 5 day event – and we’re well on our way at
number 3 this year!
